MS stops people from moving. The National MS Society exists
to make sure it doesn't. We help each person address the
challenges of living with MS through our 50 state network
of chapters. We fund more MS research, provide more services
to people with MS, offer more professional education and
further more advocacy efforts than any other MS organization
in the world. The Society is dedicated to achieving a
world free of MS. We are people who want to do something
about MS now. Join the movement.

(Ireland)
Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international,
humanitarian organisation dedicated to the reduction of
suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination
of extreme poverty in the worlds poorest countries.
Our mission is to help people living in extreme poverty
achieve major improvements in their lives, working with
the poor themselves, and with local and international
partners who share the organisations vision, to
create just and peaceful societies where the poor can
exercise their fundamental rights.
Part of our fundraising strategy is for our supporters
to take on physical challenges and raise funds through
these events. Our main events are overseas treks to places
such as the Inca Trail in Peru, The Great Wall of China,
and The Himalayas, to name but a few. We also encourage
supporters to run marathons, take on bungee jumps and
skydive, and have even had supporters cycle to China and
cross the Atlantic Ocean in specially designed rowing
boats. All these events would be great for Big Kids. For
more information visit our website.
Time to spare?
As the worlds largest orphan charity,
SOS Children cares for over 60,000 children in 123 countries.
We give children an SOS mother and family where they have
lost their own through war, famine, disease or poverty.
To provide love and a long term family to
these orphans and support a further 1 million children
and adults in the wider community, we need volunteers
to help us to continue to achieve this.
People who can spare time to help us at
our office in central Cambridge or from home (with PC
access). Support our fundraising and we can support children
who are looking after siblings where parents have died
from HIV/AIDS; give hot food and support to children living
on the streets and give orphans a full time mum with brothers
and sisters.
Could you help us by volunteering and give
children a family for life?
www.makeachildsmile.org (USA)
The Make A Child Smile Organization, also known as MACS,
has been a source of support to children with chronic
or life-threatening illnesses and their families. Emotional
support is provided by creating the opportunity for people
to visit the MACS website and learn about the children
and their illnesses.
Each month, new children are featured.
A picture and biography describing the child and information
about their family is published on the website. Hundreds
of 'net surfers, schools, service organizations, girls/boys
scouts and church groups use the MACS website as a philanthropic
project where they can send cards, letters and small gifts
to the featured children and their siblings through postal
mail.
Our Mission: To provide emotional and financial support
to families whose children suffer from chronic or life-threatening
illnesses and also give those who visit the MACS website
the opportunity to participate by sending mail to the
children.
